No Tricks won the final leg of the NZ Bloodstock Southern Filly series - the Listed Warstep Stakes - at Riccarton on Saturday to become the 40th stakes winner for leading sire Savabeel.
No Tricks (Savabeel x Mezaire, by Al Akbar) recorded her valuable stakes win on the same day Savabeel’s 2YO filly Pasadena Girl was wining the G1 Champagne Stakes at Randwick.
No Tricks turned the tables on Postponed filly Consensus a week after they ahd finished first and second in the Listed NZB Airfreight Stakes.No Tricks, raced by Te Akau Racing, deserved her stakes win as her efforts during the season included first four finishes in the G2 Wellington Guineas, G3 Mr Tiz Trophy and G2 Great Northern Guineas.
Bred and owned by Paul and Cushla Smithies, No Tricks was recording her second win with three seconds in eight starts.The Smithies raced her dam Mezaire in Australia where she won five races, and also own a share in in Savabeel.
IN other weekend NZ stakes results:-- The 3YO Werther (Tavistock x Bagalollies by Zabeel) won the G2 Championship Stakes at Ellerslie, becoming the fourth stakes winner for the son of Montjeu.
- Th 2YO Brighton (Buffalo Man x Gore Bay by Danehill Dancer) won the Listed Champagne Stakes at Ellerslie to become the first stakes winner for the son of El Prado.- Classcoroc (Sirocco x Class Torque by Masterclass) won the G3 Hawke’s Bay Cup at Hastings to become the first stakes winner for the son of Shy Tom.
