Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Wednesday’s meeting at Warwick Farm.

Gauguin (Race 1) is on the verge of a red figure quote at $2 after as much as $4.40 was available earlier in the week. The three-year-old missed by a nose at this track and distance on debut and should be better with natural improvement.

Seventhchic (Race 3) opened at double figures odds but is in four points to $7.50 so could be worth an each way ticket. She should be hard fit third up today and suited up in distance after closing well for third at Canterbury last start.

Lake Lugarno (Race 5) has firmed up more than a point and a half and is now challenging for favouritism at $3.50. The Forbes-trained mare won her first three starts of this campaign in the bush before running third at this course last start and the money push suggests she can crack it for a city win over a distance at which she is unbeaten.

Sovereignaire (Race 6) is now top pick in the market at $3.60, a point shorter than his opening price. He was narrowly beaten when resuming at Randwick and with two wins from four tries at the distance should be fitter today.
