The Ben Smith-trained mare In Her Time is now unbeaten in three runs this preparation, advancing quickly in class after winning a Benchmark 78 (1200m) at Canterbury on 31 December to take out this Group Two race in promising fashion. She was third early on (one off the rails), moved up nicely to challenge nearing the home turn. She went to the front at the 300m and then fought back gamely under her limit weight (54kg) to score a very smart win. The favourite Egyptian Symbol had a good trip in fifth place on the rails, angled into clear running at the 200m and looked the winner when she challenged shortly afterwards. But she could not overhaul the winner and kept battling on soundly for second after appearing to have every chance. Flippant raced in second place, was third rounding the home turn briefly looked a threat nearing the 200m and then fought on for a close up third. Danish Twist was eased in the early stages and settled well back in seventh place. She fanned deep on straightening and then kept running on in good style for (1.2 lengths) fourth after conceding her opposition a large start from the home turn while Godolphin’s mare Circular was behind her in last place in the ninehorse field and caught the eye, running on late for (1.5 lengths) fifth.
