Leading trainer Darren Weir capped a great day with first and second in this feature Listed race. The winner Ulmann settled back in 12th place in the 14-horse field, behind a solid pace, before moving up (wide) coming to the home turn. He then sprinting quickly, hit the front at the 100m before going on to score impressively. Stablemate Stella Collision began well, settled in third place (wide, without cover), got to the front at the 200m and then fought well for a good second after working on the pace. Well Sprung raced back in second last place, went widest of all rounding the home turn and kept running on well in the centre of the track for a good third. Yesterday’s Songs was eased from his wide barrier (13) before settling in ninth place, on the rails. He got through on the inner at the home turn and then battled on nicely for (4.7 lengths) fourth while the favourite Jungle Edge was trapped deep in seventh place from his wide barrier (12), was under riding at the home turn under his top weight (60kg), but kept fighting on well for (4.8 lengths) fifth after a difficult trip.
