Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Thursday’s meeting at Gosford.

Hamiko (Race 2) has been heavily backed into an odds on quote at $1.80, which is 80 cents shorter than her opening quote. The mare ran an improved third at Hawkesbury last start and should be ready to produce her best third up.

So Splendid (Race 3) is another that is now into the red at $1.90 having firmed in 70 cents since markets opened. The filly hasn’t been worse than fourth in her five runs this time in including a Newcastle maiden win two starts back.

Emperor's Way (Race 4) is another odds-on pop with his $1.85 quote about 40 cents shorter than his initial price. He was just over a length away in town last start and looks well placed third up at the provincials.

Ultimate Fantasy (Race 8) is a well-supported favourite at $3.10, a point-and-a-half shorter than her opening price. The mare is racing well with a Newcastle win and a Hawkesbury second at her past two outings.
