Synthetic Suits Speedy Quack

3 minute read

Lightly-raced galloper Zachary Quack will give his backers a big sight in today's final race at Geelong – the Centrebet Get On To Get Out Winter Challenge Series Handicap (race 9).

The Heath Conners-trained gelding has been in excellent form this campaign and looks well placed with the claim in today's RB68 over 1200m.

After two fair runs in his first campaign on softer tracks he went for a long spell before resuming here over 1300m.

Talia Rodder took the ride and after sitting second throughout he drew away late to score an impressive 1.3 length win.

That was in maiden grade before he stepped up to a Class 1 here over 1200m.

Settling third in the run and a shade wide, he loomed up on the turn but so did a number of others in a big charge. He took the lead narrowly but was run over late, finishing sixth and beaten 2.5 lengths.

Last start, out to 1300m here, he had a big weight but the inside draw so took up the running and held a few lengths lead throughout.

He had his rivals all chasing hard on the bend as he kicked away and scored by almost two lengths.

Today he rises in grade but drops 2.5kg in the weights.

He has drawn well and although it's a big field there doesn't look a great deal of speed in the race.

Zachary Quack loves the synthetic track and on his last run will take running down again.

The Tony Vasil-trained Miss Reveal has looked close to a win for a while and gets the chance to break through here.

The filly ran a fair race in town five back then ran on well over 1200m at Ballarat in this grade.

Returning to Ballarat but stepping up to 1400m on heavy ground she drew wide and covered ground throughout, but still ran on well to finish fourth.

Two back was here in an RB72 over 1300m where she settled back and turned last before hitting the line hard and finishing a half length third.

Last start, in this class over 1300m at Bendigo, she drew wide and was held up in traffic after settling back but worked to the line well under the circumstances.

Today she meets the boys so drops a couple of kilos in the weights and has drawn the inside gate.

With a clear run she looks hard to hold out.

The Wendy Kelly-trained Shiago resumes from a break but has trialled well for her return.

The lightly-raced mare was a fresh-up winner last campaign before a good effort in town when fifth, then another close-up run when runner-up at Ballarat.

She then drew an outside gate in town and got well out of her ground but never got into the race, finishing 13th.

Last star before a spell the mare drew wide again at Moonee Valley and got well back again, working home late but managing only 10th, beaten 3.9 lengths.

The mare resumes here on the back on an easy trial win which was also here, scoring by 2.5 lengths.

Her two career wins have been fresh and she is expected to be hard to hold out today.

Mousseline is yet to feature fresh but is pretty honest and should be getting home hard, while Will's Power is racing well here and although has drawn wide should be close to the action again.
