Sydney galloper Setgo should prove hard to hold out in today's Peter Blackshaw Real Estate Handicap (race 6) in the nation's capital.

Racing is on the turf track at Canberra and Setgo looks a leading chances on his recent form, dropping in grade for this Benchmark 70 over 1000m.

Prepared at Warwick Farm by Mark De Montfort, Setgo is racing well and looks the one to beat.

He resumed his campaign here on the Acton track and after a slow getaway hit the line well from last to finish seventh.

He then raced over 1000m at Hawkesbury and after getting back circled the field out wide, coming with a big finish when runner-up.

Up to 1200m at Bathurst next he drifted back from the inside gate and once again charged home late, finishing a long neck second.

His turn would come next start, though, over 1200m in a Benchmark 60 at Kembla Grange.

There he drifted back and settled second last before running on powerfully to score a neck win.

De Montfort then raced the gelding on his home track in a tougher race, where he drew the middle of the pack in the big field but went back to near last.

He turned there but flew home late to finish fourth, beaten just over a length behind Quadrant.

Today he drops in grade and although rises in the weights it is offset to the tune of 1.5kg after the claim for regular rider Lauri Wray.

From barrier two he'll drift back and enjoy a soft run but looks the one to hold out in the run home.

The Brett Jones-trained Macks Cutie turned in a top effort when resuming and can only be fitter again.

The lightly-raced gelding, with six wins from just 19 starts, won three races last time in up to 1200m and carried some big weights to his fast finishing successes.

Last run before a spell he race din a Benchmark 60 with 59kg and after drifting well back hit the line well to place, two lengths from the winner.

This time in he resumed in a Benchmark 60 again over 1000m here and sat just off the speed, covering ground.

He lifted strongly in the straight, though, scoring a head win.

While he rises in grade today he does drop significantly in the weights, down 3.5kg after the claim for Tara-Jane Mitchell.

The gelding has a good record here, is a second-up winner and from a good gate will be hard to beat again.

Turbo Hemi was thereabouts in town when resuming but last start returning here to his home track must have had an issue as he dropped out to last.

He has an excellent record here at the track and trip and if Peter Wiggins has him right he is certainly worth another chance.

Outside has been thereabouts lately and with a good record at home looks one of the main chances.
