3 minute read

The mare, a winner of her last two runs, has been well above her rivals lately and can make it three straight over the 1400m journey in this Benchmark 80 on the Kensington track.

Prepared at Newcastle by Kris Lees, Rose Of Scotland finished her three-year-old campaign in Tasmania when a fats finishing fourth in the Listed Tasmanian Oaks.

After a year long spell she resumed over 1200m at Gosford and obviously needed the run, finishing seventh after getting well back.

She then raced at the same journey at Wyong and turned in a better run when a fast finishing fourth, beaten less than two lengths, behind Sugera in a very strong form race.

Appreciating the extra ground over 1350m at Wyong again, she carried 59kg to an effortless win, coming from well back and waiting for a run before sprinting clear and scoring by 2.3 lengths over Absolutely Feima.

She then stepped up to 1550m at Canterbury Park last time and was again ridden by Hugh Bowman at 59kg.

She was restrained back to last before being shaken up approaching the bend and circling the field out wide.

He again proved too classy and ran away with a 3.8 length win over Our Banshee.

That was a career best rating and she can improve on that further today as she rises in grade but drops in the weights, down 2.5kg on her effortless last start win.

The mare has drawn well in barrier six but will be back in ruck anyway, and Bowman stays aboard today.

Although back in trip she has a great turn of foot which will suit today as it may turn into a dash home.

But she looks hard to hold out again and can make it three straight wins.

The Danny Willaims stable has some good chance in town today including War Charm in this who looks a great each way chance.

The lightly raced gelding has had six starts this campaign for four wins.

After winning his first two in the country he was runner up in Canberra, then won over 1200m at Kembla Grange followed by a 1350m Rosehill win.

Last start, in the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes, he drifted back in the field and turned there before winding up to finish a 3.5 length fifth behind Nobby Snip.

Today he carries the same weight but drops sharply in grade.

He has drawn well and will be fitter for his last run which was off a short break.

He looks hard to hold out in this class on his city win two back.

The Gai Waterhouse trained Samui Lad was just edged out by Haut Ton last start but can turn the tables here and should take catching.

The gelding resumed with a head second at Newcastle when carrying 61kg and meets the winner 3kg better this time.

He has drawn well and with the run under his belt is likely to roll forward and take catching.

Haut Ton may meet Samui Lad worse at the weights here but will also be fitter and should run well again down on the minimum.

He has also drawn well and looks a strong each way hope in the tougher grade.
