Titbit Backs Up

3 minute read

Handy mare Titbit will appreciate the drop in grade as she backs up in today's Canterbury BMW Handicap (race 6) at Canterbury Park.

The Chris Waller trained mare has been racing in Saturday grade in her three runs this time in and will appreciate returning to the midweeks for today's Benchmark 78 over 1550m.

A Rosehill winner last campaign over this journey, the mare resumed this time in there over 1100m and after a slow start and settling well back she motored home to finish a 2.4 length fifth in a good form race behind Gai's Choice.

She then stepped up to 1300m at Rosehill second up and was again tardily away, settling a clear last and turning there along the fence before running on well.

Despite finding some traffic, she ran on well to finish runner up, albeit six lengths from Gai's Choice again.

Last Saturday, the mare raced again at Rosehill over 1400m and settled midfield.

She was there throughout before running on and finding traffic over the final stages, finishing eighth but beaten only four lengths behind San Zaim.

Titbit backs up here over a slightly longer journey but will appreciate the drop in grade from Saturday class to the midweeks.

She has a good gate, leading rider Nash Rawiller aboard and although having never won in it she has placed four times on slow to heavy ground.

She looks hard to beat.

The Robert Price trained Blurred Vision also drops back from Saturday class and looks the biggest danger.

The mare resumed in similar company over 1400m at Warwick Farm and after racing just off the lead boxed on well to place.

She then went to Rosehill in Saturday class and after a similar run was disappointing in the straight, finishing seventh behind Gai's Choice and three lengths behind Titbit.

Blurred Vision ran a much better race last time, though, stepping up to a mile at Warwick Farm where she settled second and was up challenging a long way out before boxing on well for fourth behind Glove.

The mare drops back to midweek class here and also drops in weight.

She has an ideal gate and with good credentials at the course she looks like giving a big sight again here.

Sailor Sam didn't have much luck last time and can do better here.

The lightly raced mare resumed over 1200m at Newcastle and finished runner up, then was runner up here over 1200m next time out when running on hard.

Last start, over 1250m here, she settled third and was there throughout but found traffic in the run home and lost her momentum, finishing eighth but beaten less than two lengths.

Today she draws the inside gate and should enjoy the box seat from there with Hugh Bowman aboard.

General's Sniper gave a sight last time and will take running down again.

The mare was a fresh up winner at Wyong before she was outclassed in the Dark Jewel Quality at Scone.

Last start, back to Wyong over a mile in slow ground, she led until the final stages before holding on well for fourth.

With the claim and a great record here at the trip she looks a leading player on the speed again.

Who's Ready led throughout to score over a small field last time and on her excellent heavy track form can't be underestimated here.
