Hannah Jane To Rock Out At Hawkesbury

3 minute read

Whilst most eyes in the Anthony Cummings stable will be focused on the preparations of Your Song and Ninth Legion heading into the Golden Rose this Saturday, progressive mare Hannah Jane looks well placed to get her stable off to a winning note when she contests the Hawkesbury R.C. Motel Benchmark 65 handicap over six furlongs.

Resuming in the last race on the card at Hawkesbury, the daughter of Anabaa has proven very promising in her short career having only missed the money twice in her seven starts to date.

Dropping back to provincial company for the first time since scoring by three –lengths on debut at Gosford, the lightly raced four-year-old looked very impressive in her recent trial finishing just a head off subsequent Concorde Stakes winner Tiger Tees.

Although she has been allotted the top weight of 60kg, this is also the first time she has raced against her own sex and with formlines around the likes of Dee’N’Gee, Not A Dancer and Star of Helicon she still appears very well placed.

From the outside stall expect Robl to push forward and sit just off the speed with likely leaders Drop of Magic and Actrice ensuring a good solid tempo up front.

The Guy Walter trained Lightens also resumes in this and shapes as one of the leading contenders. Failing to run out the trip in the Group 1 Australian Oaks prior to a spell, the daughter of Viscount appears well placed dropping back to provincial company. Her first up record reads well for this however her recent trial was a shade disappointing and feel she may find the 1200m a bit short this time around.

Expect Quinn to have her positioned up midfield from the rails draw and if forward enough she should be working home strongly.

Locally trained galloper Reiby Regina resumed in good order last start, finishing midfield in tougher company at a mid-week Metropolitan meeting at Wyong.

Finishing sixth in the race, the Jason Attard galloper was only beaten two-and-a-half lengths and was not fully tested over the concluding stages when swamped on the outside by Carve ‘Em Up.

She appears well weighted with 57.5kg on her back and from the good draw Quinn should be able to sit her up just off the speed and with her fitness edge she could prove the better of the likely favourites.

Good luck and happy punting.
