Curfew To Be First One Home At Randwick

3 minute read

Curfew had plenty of excuses at Canterbury last start but expecting him to bounce back in the Drummond Golf BM 70 at Randwick-Kensington (1100m) today.

The Darren Smith-trained runner kicked off the preparation with a very good win at Hawkesbury by 2L before stepping well up in grade at Canterbury last start.

The four-year-old gelding came across to lead on the rails from barrier six and looked in contention at the 200m before fading for eighth behind eventual winner Rose Of Falvelon, beaten 2.9L.

Curfew pulled up with a mild case of the thumps and has since won a trial at Wyong and had 25 days to recover.

Fresh off a win in Hong Kong over the weekend, Tommy Berry goes on board for the first time and if he can get back to his previous form will be hard to hold out today.

From barrier six expecting Curfew to push forward once again and he will certainly take plenty of running down, boasting a handy record of two wins and three placings from six starts.

It’s very hard to knock winning form and that is exactly what Straturbo has been doing.

The four-year-old gelding has won two of his three starts this campaign, the most recent coming in similar company at Canterbury just last week.

Up in the weights with 60.5kg, Straturbo gets a much needed 2kg claim from apprentice jockey Damien Thornton and he certainly looms as the biggest danger to Curfew.

The resuming Society Man also rates a mention, finishing last preparation in very good order at the provincials.

Goes up in grade today and generally likes a bit more ground but won a recent trial at Warwick Farm and is expected to measure right up today.

Helvetica who also resumes for trainer Gregory Hickman was very good in similar company and ran third in a recent trial at Warwick Farm.

Does her best work over a bit further but is certainly one to keep an eye on here and can certainly feature in the finish.

Both Oh George and Snip Of Magic are coming off winning form but will find this a tougher task and will need to show some improvement to feature in the finish but could be worth including in the multiples.
