Angels Beach To Have Her Day In The Sun

3 minute read

Angles Beach resumes from a spell at Caulfield today and despite taking on a competitive field will be hard to hold out in the Schweppes BM 70 (1200m).

The Peter Moody-trained runner didn’t win last preparation but the promise she showed in her debut campaign was confirmed and this looks an ideal first-up assignment.

Angels Beach kicked off her preparation in similar company last preparation when runner up behind About Square who has been racing well of late, winning a handy race at Sale on Sunday.

The form around Angles Beach is likely to measure right up in this and with apprentice jockey Jake Duffy going on for the first time will now carry 58.5kg.

From barrier 13 the four-year-old mare is likely to push forward from the wide gate and she generally runs very well when fresh.

This race looks an ideal start to her campaign as Moody is no doubt looking for a win here before taking on tougher assignments throughout the spring.

Duet was a good winner fresh and has worked home solidly in a couple of runs that have followed.

Will not find this any tougher and with top jockey Damien Oliver taking the ride for the first time she is likely to be somewhere in the finish of this one.

Mrs Hadlee also stays under notice having run well in both outings this preparation.

Struggles to win races and is 1 from 19 but her recent form stacks up nicely here and she is likely to be in the mix again today despite her mediocre winning record.

Outside of these there looks to be a handful of each way chances including Valid Contract who improved last start when running third at Moonee Valley.

That effort brings her into this and from barrier 2 will not be far away and is definitely one to keep an eye on in this.

Belaruski steps up in grade today having finished runner up at Kilmore last start over 1107m.

Has been far from disgraced previously when in similar company and she is not out of place against these.

Bawcatme also steps up in grade off a last start win in the country and has shown very consistent form of late.

Still has a bit to find and backs up quickly today but would not be surprised to see her somewhere in the finish.

Whilst this looks a fairly open affair it’s a very good chance for Angels Beach to cash in after a solid spring campaign and although the likes of Duet and Mrs Hadlee will keep her on her toes she certainly has the ability to get the job done.
