Mileyva Set to Showcase Talent

3 minute read

Having finally made it to the race track a fortnight ago, expect the promising Mileyva to break maiden status in Race 2 at Kembla Grange.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained filly had shown ability during a number of preparations prior to this however only made it to the races this winter.

Her debut yielded a highly encouraging second at Newcastle over this trip and with a cosier run in transit, probably should have won.

Mileyva found herself caught wide on the speed last start and while she loomed large, was outgunned late by race favourite Arquette.

While letting her followers down on that occasion, race experience and added fitness should result in Mileyva making amends in the Duck Creek Maiden Plate (1200m).

The daughter of Thorn Park faces six rivals on Tuesday and while a few of them have also shown promise, Mileyva on 50 day weight adjusted Timeform ratings sits well clear.

Brenton Avdulla jumps aboard on Tuesday and is expected to give the three-year-old an ideal run behind the speed throughout.

She is expected to prove a class above her rivals on Tuesday and better things seemingly lie in store for her.

Making her stable debut, All Salsa will likely attract her fair share of support.

The filly was transferred from John O’Shea to Ron Quinton during her latest spell after a solid four start maiden preparation.

Her form behind some talented three-year-old's such as Shamalia and All Cerise reads well and her 1050m Randwick trial prior to this was also sound.

Shalimar Choice resumed made an encouraging debut at this track and distance last month.

She ran second and has since been given a let up.

The Choisir filly must be kept safe as she is another who is open to substantial improvement still early in her career.

While yes, it is true All Salsa and Shalimar Choice have shown promise early, this winter shapes as the time when Mileyva can begin living up to early expectations.

For that reason the filly should be winning the Duck Creek Maiden Plate at Kembla Grange (1200m) on Tuesday.
