Man Of Mischief steps out in race six at Swan Hill today looking to play his part in a strong finish to the season for the Ciaron Maher stable.
Ciaron Maher is having something of a break-out season, his 49 winners for the season clear new best for him.
He'll be looking to raise the bat in the few days left in season 2013/14 and it would be some achievement were he able to do it.
Notably for punters following the stable Maher has run at a strike-rate near 30-percent with horses 5/1 and under.
Market leaders from the Maher stable have won at 39-percent and returned a profit on turnover over +8.1-percent.
Maher is no man of mischief in 2013/14, he's the punters pal.
A key spot for Maher is when he steps his horses up in trip, the stable has long turned a profit with horses rising in distance and Man Of Mischief is one such horse today.
He won well enough over 1400m at Mildura last time and now goes to the mile which looks a positive move.
His win at Mildura stacks up solidly enough here but it is the promise of sharp improvement now that sees him make most appeal.
The big danger according to the market, and Racing And Sports' ratings, is the Troy Corstens-trained Sarawak.
She won a maiden at Sandown two runs back, turning in a performance that would leave her mighty hard to beat here, but she hasn't proven the most predictable filly and she ran below that form when beaten last time.
That said, she raced on speed at a decent gallop last time and back to the mile she can take some pegging back.
A Little Edgy is racing well and comes here with solid claims once again, as does Marcello's Sonata, a Galileo going to the mile now which looks a big plus.
Edge Of War is another who is to be respected but his run of outs now stretches to six which is some concern.
Edge Of War runs for a bit of a break-out stable himself, the Weir yard knocking in winner number 250 for the season on Sunday in a performance that has the stable demanding respect wherever they go.
