Walker & Nunes To Strike Again

3 minute read

Talented sprinter My Lucky Strike faces his sternest test to date, but is expected to pass it with flying colours, when lining up in the sixth event at Singapore this evening

Successful in bringing up his fourth straight victory, the Mark Walker trained galloper has continued to impress, since transferred to Singapore late last year.

Formerly based in Australia, the son of Charge Forward came over with some handy form in the book, despite still being a maiden.

My Lucky Strike began his career in Singapore with an impressive win, and has since continued to raise the bar, culminating with a new career peak last start.

Untried beyond 1000m, there were some queries whether he would see out the trip, however the promising galloper quickly silenced his critics.

Ridden by Manoel Nunes, My Lucky Strike made the step up in grade with ease, coming from just off the speed to salute by two lengths.

Sticking to the rail on straightening, My Lucky Strike displayed a sharp turn of foot, to sprint clear of his rivals, drawing well clear inside the 200m mark.

Recording an overall time just over two lengths outside standard, further pushed the strength of the performance.

Since transferred to Singapore, My Lucky Strike on average has improved more than four pounds at each start and is clearly on an upward spiral.

More notably the form through both Nordic Empire and Zululand, leaves him with some room to move and his winning run is expected to continue.

A versatile galloper, having also won leading throughout, My Lucky Strike is likely to take up the running from the inside draw.

With not a great deal of speed engaged, he does appear to get all the favours in front.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings, My Lucky Strike appears very well placed and while facing stiffer opposition, a majority of his rivals are a long time between wins and prone to mixing their form.

My Lucky Strike is the only last start winner engaged and his rivals are on average seven runs between wins.

Following his latest victory, My Lucky Strike is expected to improve a further four pounds, placing him in very good stead this evening.

He remains one of the more promising three-year-olds in Singapore at present and should prove very hard to beat.

The Sonny Yeoh trained Astrostar was quite disappointing first up, but is expected to display good improvement and cannot be taken lightly.

A victor of five of his 15 career starts, the son of Testa Rossa raced in great order last preparation and has placed in seven of 10 attempts over this trip.

Dropping back noticeably in grade, Astrostar appears well placed with the aid of the claim and more notably T. See is yet to miss the money aboard the four-year-old from two attempts.

From the inside draw, he is likely to adopt a more forward position and a return to his best form should see him right around the mark.

The Michael Freedman trained Peace No War was another who disappointed first up, however he too is clearly capable when right.

Unable to live up his solid market support, the son of War Pass was clearly no match, when beaten over six lengths, by the Michael Clements trained Darci Charmer.

Marked well below his best, Peace No War is clearly open to sharp improvement racing second up and remains under strong notice.

The in-form Corey Brown sticks aboard and given Peace No War has placed in seven of eight attempts on the polytrack, he cannot be taken lightly.

Of the rest the Theo Kieser trained Mexborough Boy appears the next in line, down in the weights.

While unable to feature in recent efforts, he hasn't been disgraced and measures up on best form.

Drawn well on the inside, he should be included in the multiples.

Good luck and happy punting.
