Promising colt Inkulu looks hard to hold out in the Classicbet Benchmark 70 Handicap at Seymour on Wednesday.

The Lee and Anthony Freedman-trained colt is clearly the most progressive type in the field and contests the event off a fifth at Ballarat over 1200m.

The colt settled back and made some late ground on that occasion, however as a whole never looked entirely comfortable on the heavy track.

17 days later, Inkulu rises in distance to the Classicbet Benchmark 70 Handicap (1412m).

The race looks an easier contest and a rise to seven furlongs second run from a spell should also suit the son of Denman.

Blinkers applied second up should spark the three-year-old further who is open to additional improvement based on best form figures achieved last preparation.

Inkulu possesses as master Timeform figure of 94, achieved in his second career start when runner up in a two-year-old handicap at Caulfield.

As a three-year-old, he has so far produced performances which have yielded Timeform ratings in the high 80’s.

The list of well performed gallopers he has form around is an extensive one for a horse with just eight starts to his name.

Rich Enuff, Pressing, Petrology, Bullpit and Bondeiger are five of the stakes performed gallopers he has form around while other form lines have held up strongly at Saturday metropolitan level.

Inkulu on Wednesday should be doing his part to frank the form further.

From barrier 5 with blinkers applied first time, Inkulu should be more prominent than usual and from this anticipated position, will prove hard to hold out.

The Darren Weir-trained Burning Front shapes as the main danger.

The Primus gelding has performed well this campaign and was only narrowly denied victory when second in a 1400m handicap during the Warrnambool Carnival.

He is another in this contest who drops back to an easier event.

An inside barrier will suit and the gelding should be rock hard fit by this stage of his campaign.

Dan Zephyr is a lightly-raced sort who has won two of his three starts this campaign.

The gelding stuck to his task well when fourth last start at Sale and should be around peak fitness here.

Mick’s Hustler was a last start winner at Cranbourne.

The son of Magnus is holding form well and has each way claims at double figure odds.
