Sovereignaire looks well placed when lining up in the Benchmark 64 Handicap (1600m) at Goulburn today.

The Joe Pride-trained runner resumed in good order with a win over 1400m here two starts back before going up in grade when midfield over the mile at Kembla Grange last start.

Pride has elected to put the blinkers on the lightly raced five-year-old for the first time and he is likely to show good improvement off his last start effort.

Winning jockey Jay Ford remains on board and having run well in tougher company than this previously should prove hard to hold out against these.

The scratching of Storm Siren has made his task much easier and despite drawing wide would expect him to not be far away from the speed.

Looks well placed in what is now a small field and he shapes up as the one they have to beat.

King Caleb has been ultra consistent in recent times and was not far away when third at this C/D last time out.

Has since had a freshen up of 43 days and Brendan Ward who has a good record on the horse remains on board.

Should get a very good run from barrier 3 and already proven at the trip will have no issues with the 1600m.

Has missed the placings just three times from 14 runs here at his home course and he looks a very strong chance to return to the winners circle.

Filomena has been racing better than her recent form suggests and was only 1.7L away over 1400m at Kembla Grange last start.

Has failed to win in well over a year now but runs well over the mile and will find this her easiest task in some time.

Robbie Brewer takes the ride for the first time with Jay Ford electing to stick with Sovereignaire and is certainly worth an each way ticket.

These shape up as the main chances with Lady Corleone the best of the rest.

Won three starts back at Hawkesbury and has been okay in two outings since.

Not the best record here at Goulburn but runs well over the mile and would not be surprised to see her somewhere in the finish.
