It’s Magic Millions Day at Wyong where the favourites in each of the features look set to take some beating.
The seven race card is spearheaded by the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1100m) and the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes (1200m).
Capitalist will start as clear odds on favourite in the 2YO Classic and should take a power of beating.
The same could be said about the winning chances of Flamboyant Lass although she appears set to jump at a substantially less prohibitive quote.
Flamboyant Lass resumes after a short but sweet three start campaign which culminated with a close fifth in the Group 1 Flight Stakes behind stablemate Speak Fondly.
Her Flight Stakes performance returned a Timeform rating of 106.
This Timeform rating has Flamboyant Lass sitting well ahead of her nearest rivals in this contest on weight adjusted ratings.
The daughter of Stratum appears pitchforked into this contest under Set Weights conditions, shaping as the class horse of the race after her displays earlier this season.
She possesses an excellent first up record having won two of her three prior outings fresh and placing in the other.
From barrier 1, jockey Tim Clark should be working forward and leading.
The pair will take some catching late from that anticipated prominent position.
On weight adjusted 12 month ratings, Flippant shapes as the main danger.
The daughter of Hinchinbrook has been freshened since failing to beat a runner home in the Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m).
Her trials in readiness for this have been excellent and is a previous first up winner.
The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly should work across from barrier 9 and be stalking Flamboyant Lass throughout.
While possessing a master Timeform figure five pounds shy of the 106 Flamboyant Lass boasts, Flippant still has the talent to at least keep things sporting.
Illustrious Lad ventures north from his Moe base after a closing second in the Magic Millions 3YO and 4YO Stakes at Ballarat last month.
The gelding wasn’t beaten far on that occasion and returned a Timeform rating of 97 in the process.
While this figure is shy of the best in this field, the I Am Invincible gelding at least has the benefit of race fitness under his belt over main rivals Flamboyant Lass and Flippant.
The other horse worth keeping an eye on out of the Ballarat Magic Millions 3YO and 4YO Stakes is the winner Murt The Flirt.
It was a strong on pace win by the Murtajill gelding and his on pace racing style will be advantageous around Wyong circuit with its short straight.
The main concern surrounding the Brendan McCarthy-trained runner is where he lands from barrier 11.
Egyptian Symbol and Stravigo also head into the contest off last start wins against lesser company.
The pair will need to produce substantial improvement on their latest outings.
Both profile as progressive types though who can fill a minor placing with natural improvement both early in their careers and campaigns.
Sticking with the class appears the way to go however in Thursday’s Magic Millions 3YO and 4YO Stakes.
The class comes in the form of Flamboyant Lass.
