A breakout preparation last time in leaves the Michael Freedman trained Great Sun well placed to make a wining return at Singapore this evening.

Due to contest the seventh event the son of Lucky Owners makes his return off a 119 day break and while he hasn’t trialled, he is sure to be forward enough to sprint well fresh.

In nine attempts on the polytrack Great Sun has placed on eight occasions including four of his five career wins.

Drawn ideally on the rails he appears to receive all the favours with leading rider Corey Brown linking back aboard.

In seven attempts aboard the four-year-old, Brown has placed in five including three wins.

In good form when teamed up with the Freedman stable, combined they are striking at 20 per cent.

The Theo Kieser trained Sebas is expected to take up the running with Great Sun not far away.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings not a great deal separates the main hopes, however on best form Great Sun does hold a slight edge.

The likely race shape should further aid Great Sun’s chances and given he is only lightly raced he is still open to further improvement.

If able to pick up right where he left off he should acquit himself well and prove very hard to beat.

The Shane Baertschiger trained Mycaptainoblivious won well two back before no match for the Mark Walker trained Kam's Comet last start.

Although safely held on that occasion his ratings profile didn’t waiver greatly and he has since trialled well off a slight freshen up (49 days).

In six attempts over this trip, Mycaptainoblivious has won four and has placed in seven of nine attempts at this track.

John Powell continues his association with the six-year-old having placed in all bar one of his six attempts.

From the wide draw he is expected to press forward and settle outside the lead and should be in this for a long way.

The Stephen Gray trained Strubeli proved a model of consistency last time in and remains a big watch fresh.

Under the weight scale Strubeli looks well placed and is a noted flier at this track (placed 6/10).

Having placed in two of three attempts fresh, his record over this distance (placed 2/3) also reads well for his claims.

From the middle draw he shouldn’t be too far away and shapes as solid chance down in the weights.

Of the rest the stablemate Golden Curl appears the next best as while bred to be better over further, he cannot be taken lightly.

A good winner fresh he wasn’t far off the mark at this track last start and should be right at his peak racing third up.

Likely to be ridden cold from the awkward draw, if the speed is on up front he should be finishing off strongly late.
