Infantry Hard To Withstand In The Last

3 minute read

Promising three-year-old Infantry makes the rise to 1400m and should prove very hard to beat in the final event at Singapore this evening.

Trained by Alvin Tan the son of Tavistock has displayed plenty of ability in his short career and is clearly heading in the right direction.

A winner of two of his four career starts, Infantry defeated the older horses two back before game in defeat behind Ares last start.

Unsuited by the moderate tempo, he still hit the line well and again displayed his fighting qualities.

Since his debut back in December last year Infantry has improved 17 pounds and has continued to make impressive ratings spikes.

Being by Tavistock he is expected to improve further over more ground, the fact he is able to win over these shorter trips is a great sign moving forward.

From the family of the Group 1 placed Beat The Fade (finished second to Sunline in the 2000 Group 1 Coolmore Classic) he has a bit of quality about him and is definitely one to place in your blackbook.

Leading rider Danny Beasley links aboard for the first time but possesses a good record with the Alvin Tan stable having been their elect for once stable star War Affair.

From the awkward draw Infantry should possess enough early speed to press forward and settle up near the lead.

Excellent One, McGregor, Brahms And Liszt and Million Road appear the other likely front-runners.

If required Infantry could in fact lead though Beasley will likely weigh up his options shortly after the start.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings Infantry rates atop following his last start performance and remains open to further improvement moving forward.

He clearly possesses the most upside in this field and appears destined for stronger company.

The Alvin Tan stable is in good form of late and expect Infantry to continue that trend.

Stablemate Excellent One hasn't really fired in two runs to start this campaign but rates well on best form and remains under strong notice racing third up.

A winner of one of his seven career starts, Excellent One has never been far off the mark and gets his chance to return to the winner's stall.

The form behind Magnum is expected to measure right up and he has drawn to receive all the favours.

Whether he can defeat his talented stablemate remains to be seen however he does get the weight pull in his favour and cannot be taken lightly.

The Mark Walker trained Rockfast wasn't disgraced in tougher company first up before failing to fire behind Poseidon last start.

Plummets back in grade for this and is expected to show sharp improvement.

He has never missed the money racing third up and has placed in three of five attempts over this trip.

Based on his best form last preparation he is well placed in this line up and from the inside draw he is likely to settle closer to the speed.

Oscar Chavez links back aboard and overall is striking at 16 per cent with the Walker stable.

While not the most reliable he is definitely more than capable on his day and he remains under strong notice.

Of the rest stablemate Cordoba is another one who could surprise with a return to form.

Clearly not at his best on the turf (placed 2/14) however his best form measures right up and he has drawn to receive all the favours on the inside.

The drop back in trip should aid his chances and he is one for the multiples.

Good luck and happy punting.
