Skywalk To Make Winning Return

3 minute read

Promising three-year-old SkyWalk appears well placed to make a winning return when due to contest the fourth event at Kranji this evening.

Trained by James Peters the son of Battle Paint displayed plenty of ability during his maiden preparation and is expected to have improved further off a break.

An impressive winner on debut, Skywalk was thrown in the deep-end at his second start when backing up seven days later in the Group 2 Golden Horseshoe [1200m].

While failing to fire on that occasion, he wasn’t disgraced and preceded to finish second in the Group 3 Juvenile Championship [1200m] at his next outing.

Successful in recording a new career peak, Skywalk went to the paddock in great form and has since trialled very well off a break.

Given the sole trial by Peters, Skywalk went to the line under his own steam when only narrowly edged out in the 1000m heat.

They recorded fairly slick time on that occasion (1:00.84) and Skywalk notably carried 66kg with Michael Rodd aboard.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings he appears very well placed with only 50kg on his back.

Leading rider Barend Vorster legs back aboard and is expected to adopt a prominent position from the inside draw.

Skywalk is quite the promising type and if able to continue his progression he looks to set a decent standard.

The Alvin Tan trained Mystic Master notably beat home Skywalk in the Juvenile Championship and looms as a major threat following his first up success.

In seven starts Mystic Master is yet to miss the money and while conceding weight to Skywalk he does have the runs on the board.

Alan Munro is unbeaten aboard the three-year-old and is likely to roll forward from the wide draw.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings not a great deal separates both he and Skywalk, with a slight lean towards the latter.

He too is progressive and with further improvement expected he shapes as one of the hardest to beat.

The Desmond Koh trained Lightning Fast has to concede weight to all of his rivals but is racing in great form and commands respect.

A winner of two of his five starts, Lightning Fast comes into this off a dominant success last start confirming his narrow defeat behind Distinctive Darci two back.

While somewhat on trial at the trip he gives the impression it will suit and the fact he lines up on the turf for the first time could also spark further improvement.

Apprentice rider CC Wong continues his association with the four-year-old and is expected to lead from the wide draw.

Lightning Fast couldn’t have been more impressive last start and if able to continue that progression he is sure to make his presence felt.

Of the rest the Leslie Khoo trained Queen Roulette appears the next in line following another solid performance last start.

Yet to miss the money in four attempts at this course and distance she has to be included down in the weights.

Good luck and happy punting.
