The Lee Freedman trained Augustano appears well placed to go back to back, when due to contest the eighth event at Kranji this evening.
A handy winner last start, Augustano proved too good when leading throughout at this course and distance.
His fifth win from 15 starts, the son of Hard Spun returned a new career peak and is in great form for the Freedman stable.
Off the scene for 51 days, Augustano has been given a solid trial in the lead up, finishing second behind Pennywise.
Although no match for the latter late, they ran very slick time (59.91) and it should give him the perfect platform for this.
Augustano has won four of nine attempts on the polytrack, including three minor placings.
He is yet to miss the money over this trip and looks to receive all the favours from the inside draw.
With the aid of the claim, he appears well treated at the weights and should take plenty of catching.
When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings, he sits clear of his nearest rival and only looks to have to hold his form to be right in the finish again.
The Stephen Burridge trained Autumn Rush has finished second at two of his last three starts and has to be respected.
Although no match for Darc Bounty over 1000m last start, he still stuck to his task well and should appreciate the step up in trip.
The wide draw is some concern, however it should just see him ridden aggressively early.
On best form you have to respect his class and with the added aid of the claim, he looms as a major threat.
The Cliff Brown trained Golden Sword has been rock solid in both starts to begin this preparation and now appears set to peak racing third up.
A winner of five of his 17 starts, the engagement of Rodd is a decent push, winning both attempts aboard the six-year-old.
Golden Sword has won four of six attempts on the polytrack and has placed at his only previous attempt over this trip.
On best form he rates right there and commands respect.Of the rest stablemate Sir Issac appears the next in line.
While prone to mixing his form, he is certainly capable when right and cannot be taken lightly.
Good luck and happy punting.
