Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 3rd March 2023

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for March 3.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Newcastle, Dubbo, Pakenham, Ararat, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Port Lincoln and Albany.

NEWCASTLE: RACE 7 @ 4:50 PM

CROSS TALK (3) will take a power of beating in the feature. He was backed off the map first up but just found one better on the day and will strip fitter. His form last time in reads very well for this and he drops 4.5kg in the weights. Expect he leads and proves too strong. PIZARRO (11) steps up to 1400m for the first time but is racing very well without winning this time in. He just missed Think About It over 1300m last start and that horse has since won a G3. CUBAN ROYALE (8) has won 3/5 this preparation and was only a head off Cross Talk at Rosehill. No shock to see him run well again. KISS SUM (9) worked home solidly over 1100m last start and is better suited to the rise in trip, dropping to the minimum weight.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Cross Talk.

DUBBO: RACE 6 @ 4:24 PM

BROGANS CREEK (1) has been around the mark in all contests so far this campaign and finds a suitable race today. He's drawn brilliantly while his main dangers draw wide and he drops into easier company as well. Cavallo sticks and he looks the one to beat. SHUBICK (3) disappointed last start in Highway company at Randwick and has been freshened since. He will find this much easier and Pracey-Holmes knows him well. Wide draw can be an issue, but he'll be in the finish on recent form. HARD TO DISMISS (2) went straight to Canterbury first-up and wasn't all that bad despite finishing last. This is a much, much easier task and she goes well second-up. Big chance. JUSTFOUR (4) produced a good effort first-up last campaign and will go close if he can do the same today.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Brogans Creek.

PAKENHAM: RACE 8 @ 9:45 PM

DANCINGINTHEDARK (5) got off the mark in fine style last time here when scorching home over the top of them to score dominantly. Carries more weight this time but in-form hoop Ethan Brown sticks. Can go on with it. VIBRANT GLIDER (11) never looked likely at the latest when settling rearward but managed to make solid in-roads to the line to fall just shy of the placings. Is a back-marker who keeps coming. MVITA (7) failed to fire a shot at the latest when tackling much stronger opposition at Randwick. Profiles well back in this and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside draw. Can also entertain GEMINI DANCER (14) who should improve second-up.
SELECTIONS: Siding with Dancinginthedark to win again.

ARARAT: RACE 6 @ 4:20 PM

TRUE NOBILITY (3) is racing well and looks placed to advantage today after finishing a solid third over 1200m at Moonee Valley on February 17. Building a nice record and brings the best form here. The one to beat. RIVKIN (5) returned from a spell and was forced to work hard early from the wide gate when a plugging ninth over 1200m at Moonee Valley on February 10. Fitter now and will give plenty of cheek from the inside gate. Don't dismiss. JUST CHIPPING AWAY (2) has a good record this trip and kept fresh today. Wide gate no help but can take a hand in the minor money. RICH MEMORIES (8) is racing in peak form and due for a change of luck. Goes well this track and trip and represents good value.
SELECTIONS: True Nobility to win.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 7 @ 9:00 PM

THE RATTLESNAKE (9) resumes and can win if presented forward. Draws handy and gets in well with the 3kg claim. The fresh record is strong. TIKKA READY (4) also resumes and goes fresh. He will likely control the race from the low barrier and the 2kg claim brings him right into it. NO LOVE LOST (8) resumes and has trialled well. Has shown enough to consider. Not much between the rest for minor spoils.
SELECTIONS: The Rattlesnake appeals.

CAIRNS: RACE 2 @ 12:31 PM

DUYFKEN (1) worked home strongly to just miss when first up last start at Townsville over 1400m. Sure to derive great benefit from that run. Has a decent record at this trip with four minor placings from five tries and should be in the finish. MISHANI MENACE (2) placed here fresh then settled well back and chased well when beaten 1.7 lengths over this journey at Townsville. Draws the inside and will be close to peaking. SEA STITCH (3) was only beaten 1.5 lengths over 1400m at Townsville to follow a string of top-four finishes. Contender. DAMMOSQUITO (4) resumes today after filling a minor placing at his last appearance at Townsville in October. Worth thought.
SELECTIONS: Duyfken to go one better.

PORT LINCOLN: RACE 2 @ 12:30 PM

INOTELL (4) has been racing in stronger city and provincial Maidens and missed a whisker the latest. Comes back home and with a 2kg claim will take beating. KUBLAI (6) also has an awkward gate but will push forward and can build on the 1.5L defeat here behind Roc The Wolf. LEVEE (7) peaks and has been knocking on the door. He'll also push forward from the wide barrier and is a hope if that works out. ARTY MISS (10) gets a top hoop and is also a chance.
SELECTIONS: Backing Inotell.

ALBANY: RACE 6 @ 5:10 PM

ROCAPOZZENE (9) has been too quick for her rivals in her last three starts and is each time with the rise in class. She looks very promising and is set to make it four wins on the bounce. GOD'S MOMENT (6) is the stablemate of the top selection and is only lightly tried for a six year old with just ten lifetime starts. She was a tough Mt Barker winner last time out and is just as good on this track. She will need a touch of luck from the tricky draw but should be challenging at some stage down the straight. TREVELLO (1) has been slightly disappointing at his two most recent runs in tougher company. He is dropping back to a distance that he has won twice at and on his best form he is capable of giving this field a shake. DRAGONFLIES (7) is still a maiden but did finish second at Pinjarra when out of his grade fresh up and then backed that effort up with a good run at Belmont last time out. He should get a soft run from his good draw and is a first-four chance at least.
SELECTIONS: Rocapozzene to win.
