Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Canberra Acton, Echuca, Geelong, Mackay, Bordertown, Lismore and Broome.

CANBERRA ACTON: RACE 6 @ 3:44 PM

HURRICANE ABLOWING (3) peaks off the CL1 win here and rates one of the better bets on the cards. Penza stays aboard and should find cover. He can take the next step. CHOP THE ICE (2) is back in grade and hasn't enjoyed the wet tracks his last two. He's won here and is right up to this at best. Will give away a start but finish hard. TEXAS OPEN (9) has placed 2/3 at this track/distance and can go a lot better. He can use an inside barrier and is in light with the 3kg claim. Keep onside at a juicy price. MESMERISER (6) is lightly raced. Won on debut and didn't enjoy the heavy surface following. Fitter again and a senior hoop takes over from the 4kg apprentice.
SELECTIONS: Backing Hurricane Ablowing.

ECHUCA: RACE 5 @ 1:15 PM

THE WOKE WAITER (4) never got closer than 3 wide at Wagga last time out and failed to run on. His second at Albury before that is the guide to use and from a much better draw and with Brad Rawiller in the saddle, he can bounce back into the money immediately. SHEER LUNACY (3) kept on kicking bravely off a wide run to hold onto second place at Wodonga last start and meets a very average lineup here. He is a touch one-paced and can find a handy spot early on from a good draw. Both of his career wins have come over a mile and with some cut in the ground, he can break his win drought in this. GALIERRO (6) has been battling away for some time and drops down another grade here. He revels in the wet and could have found the right race to find some worthwhile form. Include in all combinations. ARTIE'S DYNAMITE (7) has not been too far away recently and is reunited with senior hoop Theo Nugent. He is well-drawn and can figure in the finish here.
SELECTIONS: The Woke Waiter win.

BORDERTOWN: RACE 4 @ 2:30 PM

DUNMAGHLAS (3) returns for the Clarken & MacGillivray partnership. Has run into a few handy types in his last two preps, horses that would jump very short in this line-up. Looks to have returned in great order on the back of a stylish trial win in readiness. Expecting him to take plenty of stitching. ALL BEANS (1) tackled some strong races at the back end of last prep when out of his depth but has been ticking along nicely in a similar grade to this prior. Shoulders a solid record at this venue and is drawn to get all the favours. Main danger. Smaller cases can also be made for STORM VOYAGER (7) and CHOSEN BLONDE (4) on best efforts and are worth keeping onside.
SELECTIONS: Dunmaghlas to win.

GEELONG: RACE 9 @ 4:10 PM

INDAZA (6) was a smart maiden winner first up at Sale before finding a strong 3yo race at Flemington too hot behind The Black Cloud. She looks capable of bouncing back and is far better suited here. Should go close. ONE LONG DAY (2) comes here off a maiden debut win at Ballarat Synthetic in a small field, doing a good job to win by a long neck. Level of improvement the key but he looks smart enough. BYE BYE BETTY (10) will be running on having warmed up late on resumption in a handy race at Ballarat Synthetic. TRUSTFALL (4) rates a solid each way hope in this line up.
SELECTIONS: Indaza on top.

MACKAY: RACE 7 @ 4:14 PM

Clinton Taylor-trained HONKYTONK DIVA (3) has won three of her last four starts, the latest in the Rockhampton Newmarket at this level. She is a course/distance winner and a gun hoop stays aboard. Rates to go back to back. TRACK TALE (13) won here and then delivered in a Rockhampton 70 heavily bet. The figures stack up and she tumbles 10.5kg at this level. Has the early speed to manage the awkward gate and is a chance. TIGER LEGEND (1) missed 1L behind Honkytonk Diva in the Rockhampton Newmarket and it was a mighty effort after settling last from the wide barrier. Draws handy today and winning rider Butler is reunited. A bold effort is anticipated. MONTENEGRO MAN (2) just missed here in Open grade first-up and is proven second-up. He has more to give and maps well. BOLD AND LUCY (12) resumes and is up to this at best. Goes fresh but an outside gate cruels.
SELECTIONS: Backing Honkytonk Diva.

LISMORE: RACE 8 @ 4:40 PM

UPIDOMAN (5) looks to have come back much stronger this time in and near his top now third-up. Sat off the good tempo and just failed to pick them up late when second over 1006m at Grafton on July 14. This looks easier and can return to winning form today. IMMORTALITY (1) having his first start for the Stephen Lee yard when resuming with a battling fourth over 1195m in the heavy (8) conditions at Grafton on July 7. Will appreciate the claim and firmer track from the low draw. No surprise to see him take this out. BRAVE INSTINCTION (10) thereabouts in similar company and desperate for a firmer track. Held on well when third over 1310m at Ballina on June 30. Gets the blinkers added today and will need a good ride from the sticky draw. JEWELS STATEMENT (2) progressive filly resuming. Won on debut last time in before finishing runner-up at her next two starts. Looks to have returned well after scoring a solid trial win over 940m at Grafton. Will need luck from the wide gate.
SELECTIONS: Supidoman to win.

BROOME: RACE 6 @ 4:30 PM

DEMITO (5) resumes today after some strong performances in tougher races in her last campaign. Only 79 days between runs, she should still have plenty of fitness on her side and if she can hold her form on the dirt course, she should go close to winning. LO LO LONHRO (3) bolted in over 1000m here a fortnight ago, winning by 4L in a big form reversal. Hard to ignore what he did there though and if he can run up to that level again, he'll go close. DISCO DONUT (4) is racing well of late, winning here two back before bumping into a big winner at Derby last week. Won't be far away if he can run up to his recent efforts with the claim of Sardelic coming in handy. SIOUX CITY (2) was in good touch last campaign and boasts a nice record over this course and distance. Can put his best foot forward. PRINCE SAIYAN (6) is better than he showed last time out and can bounce back.
SELECTIONS: Backing Demito.
