Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 3rd October 2024

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 03.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Kembla Grange, Ipswich, Ballarat and Geraldton.

KEMBLA GRANGE: RACE 7 @ 4:40 PM

A capacity field reduced to four. BUSH GIRL (2) settled midfield and battled on evenly without threatening first-up over this distance at Hawkesbury. Wasn't disgraced in races like the Adrian Knox and Australian Oaks last prep. Prefer over more ground now but with just three opponents she gets her chance. WEST INDIES (8) was in the betting on debut last start over 1300m at Hawkesbury but peaked on his run late and just missed the placings. Will benefit from that experience and should give a good account. Stablemate BLACKLIST (17) never got involved when resuming over 1200m at Kembla recently. Faces the easiest assignment of his six to date so a win will not surprise. UNDER THE HOOD (7) is finding the line well in shorter races and should appreciate getting up to 1400m in a small field.
SELECTIONS: Bush Girl to win.

IPSWICH: RACE 3 @ 1:55 PM

Competitive. STARZAM (2) switched barns and resumed in a country Open in good shape before being outgraded at Eagle Farm. This is much more to his liking and his figures over a mile are compelling. A stable favourite rides today and he can win with average luck. SMART AS SMART (6) was back to his best belting the 62 graders by 3L this track/trip at short odds. Followed with a plainer effort at the Sunshine Coast over longer. He draws handy and carries 3.5kg less. A bounce isn't out of the question. SIR LAMORAK (1) hasn't won for an age but there was a lot to like about the 1.2L defeat at the Gold Coast in better grade. He'd be a player holding that form and carrying a kilo less with the 3kg claim. SCHOONA THE BETTER (7) has had three starts since a 662-day break and he was beaten just 1L this grade/trip at the Sunshine Coast last time. Maps for a soft run and deserves consideration.
SELECTIONS: Going with Starzam.

BALLARAT: RACE 4 @ 2:30 PM

AUTUMN STORM (1) was good first-up at Sandown Hillside when a narrow fourth and will be fitter. Up in trip looks very suitable. This looks a thinner race than what he's faced to date and with any luck from the wide draw he'll go close. ENCHANTED JENNI (16) was just fair last time but had been good on debut and up in trip should suit. MONTE CASSINO (14) can be an improver having worked home well for a narrow third at Sale last time out. CROSSOVERKID (3) can resume with a good run.
SELECTIONS: Autumn Storm to win.

GERALDTON: RACE 3 @ 5:27 PM

PULL THE TRIGGER (2) was an impressive maiden winner at this track and trip before going to town at the end of last campaign. Disappointed there, but was at the pointy end of the market and the form out of that was good. Fitter for two trials coming in and he was placed first-up last campaign. Hard to beat. ODIN OMEN (9) hasn't been far away of late and should appreciate getting back out to this trip and in easier company. He hasn't won for a while, but he's been racing at a higher level than this. Will be back in the run, but watch for him storming home late. MOONIEMIA (6) was long odds fresh and ran accordingly, though the form out of that race has been red hot. He now draws well second-up and out in distance. Ticks a few boxes and can be right in the thick of the action. BUTTERFLYROCK (1) won't be far away if she can pick up where she left off last campaign. DADIRRA (10) is best of the rest out to this trip now.
SELECTIONS: Pull The Trigger looks very well placed.
