On Sunday at Cagnes-sur-Mer there was another potential future star by Ready Cash as Haiko Dream took victory in eye catching style when making all to win cosily…

Race 5 - Prix Journal (Prix de Cabourg) (Class A, driven) (2925m)

H5 - Haiko Dream (Christophe Martens/Vincent Martens)

The four-year-old son of Ready Cash, Haiko Dream, looked one to note at Cagnes-sur-Mer on Sunday when landing his third career win in ten outings.

Driver Christophe Martens took a unique route in the opening stages when keeping the colt isolated on the outside down the home straight for the first time, and this allowed him to gain a clear lead when he crossed to the inside in the first circuit. He continued to travel well throughout and set a good pace.

As the field exited the back straight for the final occasion, Haiko Dream was still out in front with an extended advantage when closest rival, Helsinka d'Héripré broke stride inside the final 600m. The Vincent Martens trained four-year-old took the final bend with a clear five length lead and proved to be a class above his rivals and won cosily, eased down.

The win gave the Martens brothers a 34th winter success on the Côte d'Azur this winter meeting and Haiko Dream completed the race recording a kilometre rating of 1"14"4.

Haiko Dream showed ability on debut when third at La Capelle in a Class F AutoStart before running well at Cagnes-sur-Mer last summer and getting off the mark at the second attempt in Grade C level.

After two disqualifications, he bounced back to finish second at Vincennes last autumn. He then retuned back to the south coast where improvement was progressing quickly. Two placings and a success showing good, consistent form before failing to complete at Vincennes at the start of this month. Clearly Haiko Dream can be a little unreliable but when at best he shows ability and can win. He is open to progress and is worth noting in the future especially as he continues to mature and gains more racing experience.
