Bosson out for Te Rapa; Breeding career beckons Include; Stakes target for in-form mare

Bosson out for Te Rapa

Opie Bosson will not be riding this weekend after an x-ray on Monday morning confirmed he had fractured a rib.

The champion jockey was kicked by a horse he was breaking in last week and he was forced to forego his mounts at Ellerslie on Saturday after riding in the opening event.

Bosson had been booked for Decorah in the Gr.2 Travis Stakes at Te Rapa and for Passing Shot in the Gr.3 Inglis Sales Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes. He will reassess his fitness early next week.

Breeding career beckons Include

A tendon tear has forced the pre-mature retirement of the leading South Island mare Include.

She was scratched from Saturday’s Gr.3 Canterbury Gold Cup after suffering the injury during her final gallop.

Trained by Brian and Shane Anderton, Include won 10 of her 16 starts with Listed successes in the South Island Breeders’ Stakes and the Southland and Dunedin Guineas.

Stakes target for in-form mare

Fascination Street is likely to make one further appearance before a winter break.

The Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott-trained four-year-old has been ultra-consistent this season with two wins, the latest at Ellerslie on Saturday, and five minors from seven outings.

Fascination Street has placings in the Ryder Stakes, Gold Trail Stakes and the Hawke’s Bay Guineas on her record and has been set for the Listed Windsor Park Stud Rotorua Stakes at Arawa Park on May 9.
