Forecasted showers in Taranaki will boost the prospects of Endeavour at Hawera on Thursday.

The five-year-old is set to improve on an encouraging resuming performance last month when she runs in the Kaponga Hotel 1600 for the father and daughter training combination of David and Emma Haworth.

Both of Endeavour’s career successes have come at Premier meetings and her last-start effort for fourth at Woodville in her first appearance for three months was a solid effort.

“She was very good first-up and we expected her to have a good blow after the race,” Emma Haworth said.

“She was a bit on the heavy side and her work since has been great. We expect a good run from her, but we would want to see some rain.”

Endeavour is part-owned by long-time Haworth supporter Christopher Grace, who will also be hoping for a successful return to racing in the near future of stablemate Tainui.

He is making good progress after his promising career was halted by a tendon injury.

“He had to have a year off and he’s come back and had two trials and he’s going along really well,” Emma Haworth said.

Bred and raced by Grace with his wife Susanna, Tainui won two of his five starts at three and raced only twice as a four-year-old before he was forced out of training.

“Dad has always thought he was better than his sister so hopefully he can get a chance to show it,” Haworth said.

Tainui is a brother to Waikaha, who won four races and was a multiple black type placegetter.
