Gamestonks proves his class

3 minute read

In what was arguably the race of the day with a field stacked of quality including multiple G1 winners and the new kid on the block Antipodean, who was looking to remain unbeaten, it was Gamestonks that proved his class and won a gutsy race going start to finish in front.

As the highest rated horse in the race with a 110 rating, it can be no surprise that he bounced back to his best form after some eye catching trials in the build up to this race. Under CLYDE LECK for trainer J LECK, Gamestonks jumped from a wide barrier and slowly worked around the field going down the back straight to take over the lead and there was no stopping him from there.

With triumph comes a few sad stories, as Antipodean tried everything he could to run him down in the closing stages but had too much of a margin to try and cut back. Nonetheless, an impressive second in his toughest race to date.

Witnessimpact  stamped his authority with another emphatic victory under B PINHEIRO, who rode four winners on the day, by just over 6 3/4 lengths. He really looks like a smart sort in the making and should win his fair share of races in Malaysia. He was the first of two winners on the day for trainer S DUNDERDALE as MILITARY FLAG would romp home in Race 8 to pick up his fifth career win from eleven starts when he won by 3 1/2 lengths in a Class 3 0ver 1400m.

The rest of B Pinheiro's winning rides included, GARUDAN in Race 6 for trainer S HAMILTON as well as KSATRIA for trainer S SIVA in Race 9 and both of those winners in the silks of the INDIA HORSE CLUB, who enjoyed two winners as well as two second placings with both Cosmic Sands and Billy Elliot.

The only other jockey on the day to have ridden more than one winner was apprentice CLYDE LECK who completed his double aboard the emergency acceptor, Perseverance  in Race 7 over 1400m when beating, So We Fight, who made his local debut in Malaysia
