Ridden by Ivaldo Santana, Silveron Warrior ($23) scored a comfortable one-and-a-half length victory over Guided Light (Greg Cheyne) with Gravlax (Joao Moreira) a length-and-a-quarter away third.

The victory was Silveron Warrior’s third win from just six visits to the racetrack.

Santana had Silveron Warrior perfectly positioned in the run in third place behind the speed set by Fat Boy (Mohd Zaki) and Flying Ahead (Saifudin Ismail) and was content to sit there until the hometurn was reached where he angled off the fence and quickly joined in the fray.

Guided Light issued a challenge out wider on the track while the favourite Gravlax was punching up on the inside. The trio looked all set to stage a fight to the line, but Silveron Warrior showed plenty of courage in the run to the line as he was conceding up to 6kg to his two rivals.

Trainer Leslie Khoo said Silveron Warrior would continue to get better with age and added the three-year-old was at home on the yielding track conditions.

“I think the going helped him today,” said Khoo. “He loves the wet ground.

“It’s never easy for the three-year-olds to be giving weight to older horses and win, but this horse was able to do that today.

“I’m not too sure how far he can go class wise but he just keeps improving all the time.

“I’ll also continue stepping him up in distance as well.

“He’s a handy horse.”

By Spartacus from the Elnadim mare Miss Muga, Silveron Warrior also has two third placings to his credit and Sunday’s victory took his prizemoney past the $100,000 mark for the Empire Stable.
