SOUTH AFRICA: The Apache Goes To De Kock

3 minute read

Dual Group One winner The Apache will join the Mike de Kock stable with a view to campaigning at the 2013 Dubai World Cup Carnival.

De Kock announced that Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum had purchased a half share in The Apache. The other half will be retained by the colt's original owner Winston Chow.

The Apache has won six of his 15 starts including the G1 Daily News 2000 and G1 Champion Stakes.

He was fourth in the 2011 Durban July behind Igugu and sixth in the recent J&B Met, beaten under two lengths by the star mare.

He has won R1.9 million in stakes.

"The Apache comes to us with good form, thanks to his trainer Gavin van Zyl. He will have a couple of runs in South Africa for us but the long-term mission is next year's Dubai carnival," De Kock said.
