The Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum owned filly Ektifaa picked up the first feature win of her career in the G2 Choice Carriers Fillies Championship at Kenilworth on October 29.
Allowed to start an easy to back 9-1 shot, Ektifaa prevailed in the 1400m contest, under a strong ride from last season's Equus champion apprentice Callan Murray.
The Mike de Kock trained Ektifaa hit the front with 200m left to go, but had to withstand a strong late challenge from Sail to win by a rapidly diminishing three parts of a length.Ektifaa has now won three races in succession from just six outings.
By the outstanding sire More Than Ready, Ektifaa is out of a winning daughter of champion Australian sire Redoute's Choice who also figured as the sire of the blue blooded Australian bred Table Bay in the G3 Cape Classic on the same program.Table Bay gave trainer Joey Ramsden his third Cape Classic win from the past four years when running out a facile winner.
Winner of the G3 Langerman last season, Table Bay had to give weight to the whole field under 60kg but ran on smartly under a confident Anton Marcus ride to post a four lengths win.The colt was one of four in the race owned by Mayfair Speculators including third place finisher Edict Of Nantes.
Redoute's Choice is also the sire of local champions Majmu and Musir. Table Bay has now won four of his six outings and looks a major contender for the Cape Guineas this season.Sold as a yearling in Melbourne for $A120 000, Table Bay is out of the unraced mare Gabriella whose half brother, Cape Of Good Hope won the G1 King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascoy and the G1 Australia Stakes in Melbourne.
Nebula continued the dominance of visiting raiders when prevailing in Sunday’s G3 Betting World Algoa Cup at Fairview.Trained by Brett Crawford, Nebula beat fellow Cape raider Captain Splendid by three parts of a length with Alghadeer proving best of the local runners back in third.
Nebula, was bred by Wilgerbosdrift and races for Edmond Siu.The Silvano four-year-old was the top priced yearling at the 2014 National Sale where he fetched R3.75 million. He is a brother to 2013 J&B Met winner Martial Eagle.
Nebula has now won three of his 12 outings and has banked over R300 000 in stakes.
