Splash Of Ginge has been handed an entry in the Grade Two bet365 West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby on Saturday.

Nigel Twiston-Davies' charge, winner of the 2014 Betfair Hurdle at Newbury, missed a proposed engagement in the Old Roan Chase at Aintree on Sunday due to the ground and connections are keen to get a run into him.

Splash Of Ginge was pulled up when last sighted in the Topham Chase in April, but owner John Neild revealed the Paddy Power Gold Cup and Hennessy Gold Cup are races very much on his agenda.

Neild said: "The Old Roan was always the plan but we had to do what was right by the horse.

"The rain didn't arrive in Liverpool, which was particularly annoying given it had rained all week where I live in Spain, but we said we would never run him on good or quick ground again so we made the decision to pull him out.

"We have entered him in the Grade Two over three miles at Wetherby on Saturday and we feel that is a good race for him off level weights and going left-handed.

"We're leaning towards the Hennessy at the moment, purely because it is shaping up to be a top-class renewal and we would love to be involved.

"It would be difficult to go to Newbury without a run, though, so if the ground isn't soft enough this weekend we may have to take in the Paddy Power beforehand."

Won 12 months ago by subsequent Ladbrokes World Hurdle hero Cole Harden, the entry was strong at the five-day stage for the West Yorkshire Hurdle.

The 2012 Champion Hurdle winner Rock On Ruby is the star turn among the 17 horses who have stood their ground.

Royal Boy has not been seen since beating his then stable companion Josses Hill in the 2014 Tolworth Hurdle at Kempton and could make his reappearance for Rebecca Curtis.

Ballynagour, who won the Byrne Group Plate at the Cheltenham Festival two seasons ago, has been confirmed, but he has also been entered for the Charlie Hall Chase on the same card.

Cesarewitch scorer Grumeti, The Druids Nephew, Aqalim and the Paul Nicholls-trained duo of Wonderful Charm and Southfield Vic are others of note.
