William Haggas reports Muthmir to have taken his run in the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan on Saturday in his stride.
The six-year-old put in his best work at the finish to get to within two lengths of the winner, Buffering, when fifth in the Group One contest over five furlongs.
It was Muthmir's second run of the year following his close third behind Lightscameraction in the Listed Hever Stakes at Lingfield in February.
Muthmir took two Group Two prizes last term - Chantilly's Prix du Gros-Chene and the King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood - and Haggas is likely to target the major sprints again this season.
"He came out of his race fine. He got back on Monday," said the Newmarket handler.
"He won't do a lot this week and then we'll see where we go with him."
