The 2016 Qatar Goodwood Festival commences tomorrow, Tuesday, July 26, with a cracking seven-race programme headed by the £200,000 G2 Qatar Lennox Stakes (3.10pm) over seven furlongs.
Eight runners go to post including last year's three quarters of a length runner-up Dutch Connection (Charlie Hills/James McDonald). The four-year-old is owned by Godolphin, who will also be represented by Home Of The Brave (Hugo Palmer/James Doyle), a dual winner over seven furlongs this season, and Birchwood (Richard Fahey/Ryan Moore), a Listed winner at Chester earlier this month.
There is also G2 action for two-year-olds tomorrow, with the £200,000 Qatar Vintage Stakes (2.35pm, 10 runners) over seven furlongs, which was won by Galileo Gold in 2015.
This year's field is headlined by Boynton (Charlie Appleby/James Doyle) and War Decree (Aidan O'Brien/Ryan Moore), who were separated by three quarters of a length when first and second respectively in the G2 Superlative Stakes over the same distance at Newmarket on July 9. Local interest is supplied by Jackhammer (William Knight/Andrea Atzeni), successful on his debut at Salisbury in June.
