Ramatuelle eyes Prix Morny following powerful Papin performance

3 minute read

Christopher Head looks to have another hugely exciting prospect on his hands after Ramatuelle’s powerful performance in the Prix Robert Papin at Chantilly on Sunday.

RAMATUELLE.
RAMATUELLE.

The Christopher Head-trained filly created a deep impression when scooting away from her rivals for an impressive four-length success under Aurelien Lemaitre in the six-furlong Group 2. Aidan O'Brien's His Majesty stuck on to finish runner-up but was ultimately no match for the French winner.

The victory took her record to two from three with her sole defeat coming when beaten by subsequent Listed scorer by Beauvatier on her second start.

Head, who has enjoyed plenty of big-race success this year with the likes of Blue Rose Cen and Big Rock, said: "She was incredible, she loves the speed and she'll be going to the Morny for sure. I just can't wait to get to that race.

"I was not concerned about her being keen as there was nobody who wanted to go in front of her, she's capable of doing better than that, of course.

"She's pretty much like an older horse, it's a pleasure to see her in races behave this way."

It was a first victory for a French-trained runner in the contest for ten years with the race having been dominated by foreign raiders over the last decade.
