Sam King landed a 33/1 winning treble with his three selections yesterday and returns with two selections for you this Sunday afternoon.
Unfortunately, we're down to two meetings with the abandonment of the Curragh and Redcar so heads turn to jumping action.
Newton Abbot and Stratford both host six race cards and it's to the latter venue we head for both wagers.
The Marion Wright Memorial Novices' Handicap Chase at 4.22 features some in-form contenders but none more so than Chris Downs' Opening Bid.
The eight-year-old arrives in the form of his life having completed the hat-trick over fences with a commanding twelve-length success over course and distance 18 days ago. A 9lb rise makes life tougher, but he looks to be progressing nicely in this sphere and could prove a tough nut to crack with ground conditions no issue.
Selection: Opening Bid – General 5/2
Our second and final selection comes in the Grace & Dotty Open NH Flat Race at 5.52.
It's a race that features plenty of last-time-out winners and the likes of both Jeudidee and Thirtyfour Thirty should give very good accounts under their penalties.
However, at the prices, it's fellow last-start scorer Tineggiori that's preferred. The Mark Walford-trained four-year-old showed up quite nicely on his debut at Warwick despite finishing seventh of eight and was very strong in the betting when turning out at Hexham a few months later.
Almost everything that could go wrong for a horse at Hexham occurred that day and it's fairly remarkable he managed to get up in the shadows of the post. Jamie Hamilton continuously found himself short of room towards the inside as the pace began to lift and if that wasn't bad enough, his mount slipped with three furlongs to run rounding the bend.
The son of Bated Breath had mountains to climb with two furlongs to run and did extremely well to lead by a head passing the winning post. There's no doubt he's entering deeper waters here under a penalty, but at a general price of around 7/1 he may well be underestimated and I'm expecting a bold bid with further progress on the cards.
Selection: Tineggiori – General 7/1
