In an interview with Sporting Life, Mullins said "Unfortunately Energumene has a hind leg injury and he will probably be out of action for the season."

The nine-year-old has won the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival for the last two years, and completed a Grade 1 double by taking the Champion Chase at the Punchestown Festival on both occasions.

Energumene has amassed earnings of over one million pounds and won ten of his twelve starts over fences.
