Sun Chariot third Heredia is expected to return next season as a five-year-old in search of Group 1 glory.

Although connections had previously suggested the Breeders' Cup may be an option for the four-year-old, the filly has finished for the year and will return next season.

A winner of the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot in 2022, Heredia was campaigned over shorter distances before making a winning return to a mile in the Listed Dick Hern Stakes at Haydock Park. She stepped up in class when taking the Group 3 Atalanta Stakes at Sandown Park and was subsequently supplemented, at the cost of £20,000, for the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes.

Although the daughter of Dark Angel was never in danger of troubling runaway winner Inspiral, she finished within a length of the second-placed dual Group 1 winner Mqse De Sevigne.

"We were delighted with her and she ran a great race," said Richard Brown, racing manager for owners St Albans Bloodstock.

"We are going to put her away now and bring her back next year.

"She's improved fairly dramatically throughout the year and if we can see a bit more improvement from four to five then we might be knocking on the door in one of those mile Group Ones for fillies.

"You have races like the Falmouth at Newmarket and the Sun Chariot again and also races in France. There's options for her.

"We think a mile is her trip and we'll just focus on that next year and hopefully have a good go."
