Just 24 hours after owner Nurlan Bizkov announced Charyn's retirement, a full-sister to Roger Varian's two-time Group 1 miler set foot in the ring on day two of Tattersalls Book One sale.

The opening day of the Book One sale was set alight by Amo Racing's Kia Joorabchian spending over 12 million gns across 13 lots and although they were active on day two, it was team Godolphin who walked away with the headlines.

While Kia Joorabchian was in no mood to be denied yesterday, Amo Racing's frontperson had to play second fiddle on day two when Godolphin pushed the boat out to 2.9 million gns to purchase Charyn's full sister.

The Dark Angel filly out of Futoon was presented by Grangemore Stud, whose Guy O'Callaghan was over the moon with the result.

Speaking with Tattersalls, he said: "It is the stuff of dreams and as a breeder, it is what you always hope could happen, two buyers such as Amo and Godolphin going head-to-head, then it can go anywhere.

"She has been flat out since she got here, but she has never turned a hair and showed exactly the same every time – it takes a very special horse to do that.

"I was not at Royal Ascot when Charyn won as I could not get away from home, but it is so very difficult for a horse to win there, it takes a great performance and that was a special day – and days like this can't happen without that first."

Hours after Godolphin and Amo Racing went toe-to-toe for Charyn's full sister, the two racing superpowers were at it again when Fittocks Stud presented a colt by Dubawi out of Emma Banks' Nassau Stakes heroine Lady Bowthorpe.

100k bids continued to be exchanged across the room but as the figure reached 2 million gns, Joorabchian once again walked away from proceedings, leaving Godolphin successful.

The Dubawi colt was a first foal out of Emma Banks' Lady Bowthorpe, who was overjoyed with the result. "It feels bonkers, to be honest," said Banks. "You dream about these things, then you have to give yourself a slap and go 'don't be ridiculous' but standing in that ring today it was just surreal.

"Once we got to the million – I said I would probably keep him at 800 or a little bit more – but you can't argue with two million guineas. He's a lovely, lovely horse and I'm so proud of him and Lady Bowthorpe.

"She is the one who has done this, it's her baby. I pay the bills and the guys at (consignors) Fittocks have done an amazing job looking after him and her

"He's going to a great racing operation with an incredible history. Charlie Appleby is a brilliant trainer, I'm very happy Will (Buick) is going to ride him – all of that."

Godolphin once again exceeded the seven-figure mark on day two when stretching to 1.5 million gns for a Too Darn Hot half-brother to Grade 2 winner Idea Generation.
