29th Shuka Sho at Kyoto

3 minute read

The last leg of the fillies' triple "tiara" will be run on Sunday.

There will be no triple crown winner this year but the winners of the two previous legs are in this and heading the market.  Cervinia won the Yushun Himba or Japanese Oaks and is on 2.9 for this with Lemaire on board.  Stellenbosch won the Oka Sho or 1000 guineas and is on 3.3 here with Tosaki riding.

There's a bit of a gap in the market after those two and we rather fancy Queen Waltz, a lightly raced Kizuna product, on 8.0 who has had three wins in her five starts to date, and Mi Anhelo, a Duramente product on 9.6.

The weather in Kyoto looks sunny and warm and the track is good.

As it's a long weekend in Japan we have racing on Monday with Tokyo the focus and the G2 Ireland Trophy Fuchu Himba the feature.  It's for f&m 3y+ but there are no 3yos in the field.

The top three in the market have been juggling positions but at the time of writing Brede Weg is on top on 3.7 with Lemaire riding, Masked Diva 3.8 with Kawada and the irons and Iwata Sr is on Moryama 7.4 with his son Mirai on Conch Shell on 11.9.

Harper is the other runner in single figures with Take riding and the current quote 7.8.
