Equinox lives up to his billing

And he added this grand prix to the Arima Kinen win for a rare double.  It wasn't a spectacular win by his standards as he raced near the end of the field for most of the trip but on the last turn came out wide and just picked the horses off one by one.  Unsung heroine Through Seven Seas chased very well to get within a neck of Equinox but one had the feeling that is required he could move up a gear.

Hanshin is a tricky course with tight turns and a short straight so champions have often been overturned.  Third home was Justin Palace, followed by Geraldine and Deep Bond.

Japan's top horses now have their summer holidays and one waits to see what plans will emerge for the autumn.
