In France and Germany Sunday

3 minute read

Just time to catch these meetings before packing the bucket and spade.

This weekend is the start of the great exodus from the cities to the beach or countryside for the city dwellers.

Those in Germany can head to Hamburg (which is on the sea) for the Sparkasse Holstein Cup over 1600m for the fillies and mares, 10 of whom make the field.  Sea The Lady is a French raider from Christopher Head's yard with Adrie de Vries riding and they are on 5/2.  Hope and Believe is one we like a lot and she's unbeaten so far and on 7/2 for Wöhler-Bojko and we also like Armira from the Schiergen stables with Murzabayev in the irons  and they could be value at 11/2.

In France head to Saint Cloud for their Grand Prix which is a G1 over 2400m and has 7 starters.  We are going a bit wide here and put in Sevenna's Knight who is another Camelot (with his son Los Angeles in the Irish Derby) with Andre Fabre with Barzalona riding and they are on 7/1 and will race in the colours of OTI which adds a bit of Aussie.  Raider Point Lonsdale is by Australia and O'Brien has booked Mendizabal for the ride and they are on 5/1.

Also at Saint Cloud the G2 Prix Eugène Adam is for 3yos and over 2000m with 7 to run.  We are going wide here too and putting in raider Grey Charger, a son of Caravaggio, with Haggas-Marquand on 5/1 and Hamavi by Dubawi for Fabre-Barzalona on 4/1.
