Irish Derby Weekend at The Curragh

3 minute read

The Weather looks reasonable with possibly a few showers around on Saturday.

Safe to say however this is Ireland and they are not having a heatwave!  The Group races start off with the G2 Airlie Stud Stakes for 2yo fillies with 10 entered.  Adrian Murray has the current favourite in California Dreamer, a Mehmas filly, with D Egan booked for the ride and they are on 11/4.  Truly Enchanting and is Ryan Moore's pick of the Ballydoyle runners.  She's by No Nay Never and they are on 10/3.  American Bar is another No Nay Never filly on 9/2 for Twomey-Lee and we have a slight leaning towards the O'Brien Easy Mover, a Wooton Basset who won on debut and Declan McDonough will be aboard.

The Al Basti Equiworld Dubai International is G3 for 3y+ over 2000m and has 8 runners.

Jan Brueghel (is he the younger or the elder?) is a Galileo colt who won on debut by 8 lengths.  Watch the betting here.  Wandla is on 4/1 for Lyons-Keane and Bolster 11/2 is with Karl Burke and Chris Hayes will ride.

The Pretty Polly is G1 for f&m over 2000m with Ralph Beckett's Bluestocking on 7/4 with Rossa Ryan riding.  Emily Upjohn is on 15.8 for the Gosdens with Shoemark riding and we are going to have a little e/w for Tasmania on 10/1 for Sir Mark Prescott and Luke Morris.  Prescott is a very astute placer of horses.  Stay Alert is also in the mix on 13/2 for Hughie Morrison and David Egan.

An early look at the Derby has Ambiente Friendly on 5/4 and Matsuri 13/2 ahead of the 6 O'Brien runners in the field.  At present Los Angeles is on 15/8 and Grosvenor Square on 16/1.  We will update this on Sunday when we got some more info.
