Not all seven races as was the case 11 years ago (time flies) but winning the feature of the day, the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, this year on Ramonti.
Ramonti has certainly been a great investment for Godolphin and has had an outstanding year. He seems to be able to cope with
all sorts of conditions, and Dettori has certainly found the key to his best form, possibly they communicate in Italian - who knows!Star French filly Darjina can be excused her poor run - she didn't handle the soft going at all.
It was Duke of Marmalade who set the brisk pace which certainly helped Excellent Art to get the second spot but that was it - the
winner was too good. The Duke held on for thid and Cesare did well to take 4th with Stormy River fifth. In the Royal Lodge CityLeader got the chockies from Achill Island with Scintillo third. Joint favourites Emmrooz and Sharp Nephew finished 7th and 9th.
The Meon Valley Stud 1600m race for the fillies saw them all struggle home like Brown's cows - Listen made the best of it with
Proviso a length back in second and Saoirse Abu 2 1/2l in third.
