Brian Ellison had been trying for several years to win a Northumberland Plate.

And on Saturday he did so with Onesmoothoperator 12/1 winning under Connor Beasley.  Sir Mark Prescott is another trainer who has been trying to win this race for a number of years but unfortunately it wasn't to be this year.

Evaluation on 40/1 was second and Duke of Oxford 12/1 third.

And a mention of the previous race, the Vase, a consolation for those horses who don't make it into the Plate, Alphonse Le Grand was favourite and won under a top ride from Hollie Doyle.
