Saturday in Ireland and England

3 minute read

In Ireland the results were pretty much as predicted as far as the winners were concerned.

CONTINUOUS (purple cap) was the winner of a Royal Whip Stakes.

The Royal Whip went to Continuous as expected and the second spot to Trustyourinstinct 9/2.  Tarawa was scratched as she was in season.

And the St Leger Trial went to Grosvenor Square also as expected but the second was not – Courageous Strike at 80/1 but he was 20n lengths behind the winner.  Kinesiology was scratched.

Over at Newbury no surprises in the Geoffrey Free with Al Aasy and Al Qareem filling the first two places in the 5-runner field but slightly more in the Hungerford where favourite Kikuli had to settle for fourth with the win going to Tiber Flow (Haggas-Marquand) 4/1 and Witch Hunter second on 8/1.  Jumby was third on 18/1 and English Oak was a disappointment.
