VINTEDGE (Chris Waller) - Liked the way this talented mare held her ground after a tough run when racing second up from a spell at Rosehill last Saturday. It was an effort that indicated she is not far off her best again and she will be well placed in coming weeks against her own sex with the better class mares racing in Melbourne.

'Aspro'

SHARNEE ROSE (Ellerton/Zahra) - Ran her best rating in the Thousand Guineas behind a top draw filly. She will enjoy getting away from Atlantic Jewel having placed behind her three times in a row. Out of a Jeune mare maybe the Wakeful will see if she can get to the Oaks. Otherwise she has good ability no matter what race they contest.

CELTS (Peter Snowden) - Was held up but poked through to place last time in the sprint on Guineas day at Caulfield. Can win a second-tier sprint over the carnival with any luck, perhaps during the Cup they are there for the mares. Best form is against some of the good ones from her age bracket.

Alex Steedman

KING GLADIATOR (Chris Waller) - Has run well now up to 1900m at Rosehill and you'd expect him to improve again. He did run fifth in the AJC Derby and while that form is looking plain at the moment, at least he is on the ascent. These Galileos take time and he might be better again come the Autumn.

Dean Croker

SKYERUSH (Guy Walter) - With the stable flying, this mare has put two good runs back to back with a strong third in the Angst. Her best rated run was in the McKell Cup over 2400m so you'd expect her to be better at the mile and beyond. She could well be a chance in a minor mares race over the carnival.

Wayne Bristow

PADDY O'REILLY (Robert Smerdon) - Took off at the 600m in the Cranbourne Cup and was only run down in the last 50m of that race. He will be better for the run and given he is racing bravely again, he could pick up a country Cup or even a Listed Race over the carnival over 2000m somewhere aside from his run this week.
