Listed Centenary Classic Mile - 1600m Eagle Farm

Racing And Sports have identified the Classic Mile as the race of the weekend where the settling positions hold a big sway in the way the race may end up.

Our maps are interactive and so use the technology available to create your own speed map if you have a differing view. Much like racing everywhere, it is all a matter of opinion and that is what makes the sport great.

Click the link back to the race in our Form Guides and you can create your own Speed Maps located on the left hand side of the page.

Explanation:

They do have a long run to the first turn from the mile start at Eagle Farm and so should find enough time to get a position. Travolta might be the only one struggling as he hasn’t got much speed in his legs at this distance. Transporter and Queenstown look the two leaders and will have to show speed having drawn inside. Reckon they will still roll along here.

Speed Map Special:- (2) Fire Up Fifi & (6) Belle De Coeur

Last year’s winner of this race was Rob Heathcote’s mare and she came off a similar prep having contested the Dane Ripper. She sat right on speed in this event in 2013 and kept on kicking. Her mile form is fantastic and just in the last 12 months has placed in the Myer Classic and Railway Stakes at G1. She would love a little give in the ground as well. If we can ignore the last effort, the BRC Sprint run behind subsequent Stradbroke winner River Lad looks strong now. She looks to track the leaders everywhere they go and then be given her chance up the running at ridiculous odds. The other one who must be a show is Belle De Coeur who will be smothered away on the fence. She hasn't been able to win this time in but there is nothing wrong with her form coming through the female races. Looks the right race for Boss to weave some magic.
