Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts
R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.
SELECTIONS
The prospect of a soft to heavy track has boosted my confidence that this mare is well placed to bounce back from her last start at Rosehill a month ago when she was lost all chance on the home turn after she al but fell after suffering a severe check.
Can easily forgive that loss as she was in excellent form in her three prior runs since resuming and showed she was on her game when she won a trial on her home track on October 20.
She is a good quality mare with the key factor here being that her all her three wins have been on affected tracks.
Didn’t get the best of runs when he resumed with an eye catching third behind Chalk and Redouble over this course and distance on October 7.
Will get every chance to turn the tables on that pair as he meets them on much better weight terms after the Hawkes stable made the smart move to utilise Blaike McDougall’s allowance.
Conditions suit as he is drawn to get a positive ride and has won his only start on a soft track.
Randwick Race 9 - 8 Interlocuter
Impressive import atoned for the travesty of losing his first up race at Rosehill on protest when he outclassed a BM 85 field over 1600m at this course on October 7.
Drops 2kg and the rise to 1800m is the perfect step for him to continue his progress towards stakes company.
Warrants his short odds as he arguably should be unbeaten in his five Australian starts with the only query being his unknown ability on a seriously rain affected track but he can only be fitter for his latest win and progeny by his sire Medagia D’Oro have a good wet track strike rate.
